Curriculum at Bedford Drive

Bedford Drive Primary School is committed to meeting the requirements of the primary National Curriculum. We aim to prepare children fully for life in modern Britain through a broad and balanced curriculum, with a clear progression of subject knowledge and skills, which is underpinned by our school ethos ‘Inspire, Believe, Succeed.’

We have developed an engaging, enquiry-based curriculum, which has been tailored to our children in order to develop lifelong learning skills. Our curriculum is exciting and aims to inspire children to nurture a passion for learning, as well as challenging them. We recognise that children develop at varying rates and we value the individual child by working alongside parents and others.

We create a safe and happy environment, with motivating, enjoyable and engaging learning experiences as well as the use of visits and visitors to enhance and enrich our curriculum. These experiences help develop independence, responsibility and teamwork.

Each Year group develops a termly overview which can be accessed from the year group area. These are also sent out via ParentMail and can be found on our Twitter feed.

Throughout 2021-22, we will continue to build, develop and review the curriculum to ensure it is flexible and responsive to individual needs and interests. This will enable us to transition fully from the pandemic to our full curriculum offer. Also, it will fulfil our aim to have a local, national and global dimension within our curriculum as we prepare our children for their future.
